Mcheka Chilenje accepts defeat

Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje has conceded defeat in the parliamentary by-elections which were held in Nsanje North.

Unofficial results are showing that Chilenje, has lost to Enock Masautso Chizuzu of Malawi Congress Party candidate.

Speaking in an interview with the press Chilenje said she has accepted the results although there were a lot of irregularities.

Chilenje has however said she will not challenge the out of the election.

Meanwhile, Malawi Congress Party through its campaign director Moses Kunkuyu has said they are happy that they have penetrated new areas.

The country’s electoral body, MEC has said it will announce official results for the election tomorrow at 11:30.
