Suspected thief stoned to death in Phalombe

An angry mob in Phalombe has stoned to death an unknown male person whom they had accused of stealing a bicycle.

According to Phalombe Police spokesperson Innocent Moses, the angry mob apprehended the victim at Sunuzi Market in Zomba before bringing him to Mulomba Trading Centre in the area of Traditional Authority Kaledzera in Phalombe District, where they assaulted him and burnt his body.

Meanwhile, police investigations are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Police have since called on the public to desist from mob justice.
