Police in Kasungu have launched a manhunt for unknown assailants suspected to have murdered a 24 year old woman.
Assistant publicist for Kasungu Police Miracle Mkozi identified the deceased as Eunice Phiri.
It is alleged that on April 8 2021, Phiri went to Mzimba Boma in the morning to collect money from someone, which had been sent by her brother-in-law who stays in South Africa.
The deceased did not return home until 12 midnight when she was found lying dead in the middle of a road at the old filling station, along Mzuzu-Kasungu M1 road.
According to Mkozi, when police together with health personnel visited the scene of crime,they discovered that the deceased had three big cuts on her head and scratches around her neck.
Postmortem conducted at Kaluluma Health Centre revealed that death was due to head injuries.
She hailed from Muyaba Village in Traditional Authority Chisemphere’s area in the district.
