Ghanaian Actress Sentenced To Three Months In Prison Over Nude Photoshoot With Son

Ghanaian actress and video vixen, Rosemond Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo has been sentenced to three months in prison by an Accra Circuit Court over her controversial nude photo with her seven-year-old son.

In the controversial picture which went viral, the actress went completely nude in a photoshoot with her son to celebrate him on his 7th birthday. Explaining the pic, she said she decided to go naked in front of her son who was only in his underwear because she gave birth to him naked.

However,  after the picture went viral, the Child Rights International petitioned the Inspector-General of Police in Ghana to investigate her over the controversial birthday photo with her son. This resulted in her arrest last year and all along she was remanded out of custody

According to ModernGhana, her trial only commenced on the 14th of April and she slapped with a 90-day imprisonment on Thursday over the publication of obscene material and domestic violence.

She was convicted on her own plea, after she had pleaded guilty to three counts of publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence namely a conduct that in any way undermined another person’s privacy or integrity and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being.

Magistrate Christina Cann who presided over the case said Akuapem’s harsh sentence was set to serve as a deterrent for committing the offense which the court held had become prevalent in the country and affected children’s best interest, right to privacy and dignity as well as the country’s moral image.

Meanwhile, popular American rapper, Cardi B, took to social media to express her views after Akuapem Poloo was sentenced by an Accra Circuit Court.

Commenting on her sentencing, Cardi B said jailing Akuapem Poloo was a bit too harsh and that social media probation or community service would have been better.

She added that, even though going nude in front of her child isn’t her style, what Akuapem Poloo did was natural and that those kinds of photoshoots were common in America.
