Chiefs in wildlife preservation campaign in Kasungu

Traditional leaders surrounding Kasungu National parks has committed to support the fight against wildlife crimes and support promoting tourism in the country.

The Chiefs made the commitement in Kasungu yesterday when the department of National parks and wildlife in conjunction with Malawi Police demonstrating the use of special dogs in fighting against wildlife crime in national parks,road blocks and airports.

In a interview with Senior chief Lukwa,said the Chiefs within Kasungu are encouraged with the relationship between the community and Kasungu National parks because the community is egger to protect the environment and wildlife crimes.

“The community is doing recommendable jobs on protecting the wildlife crimes and environment by reporting any suspect to the village heads in this area.”said Lukwa.

Lukwa added that the community is now able to do bee farming inside the park once they sell members of the club are benefiting financially and this is why the villages surrounding the park are making sure that every one is appreciating the importance of the environment.

In her remarks Matias Elisa who is the head of environment and education at Kasungu National parks supported the idea of village lodges for tourist as one way of promoting tourism and promote cultural dances as Group village Lunyagwa has done in his village.
