Man Jailed 6 Years For Indecent Assault In Mwanza
The First Grade Magistrate Court in mwanza has convicted and sentenced Gezani Zosowa, a 25 year old man to 6 years imprisonment with hard labor for Indecent assault.
Police prosecutor Arnold Phiri told the court that the victim, a standard 6 girl child caught up with her fate when she was crossing a certain Bridge Near Mtapadothi River in the district of Mwanza when she met with the convict.
Zosowa ended up indicently assaulting her by touching her boobs and buttocks. This made the Victim’s sister to report the case to Police and later the men in uniform apprehended Gezani zosowa.
Gezani was charged with an offence of Indecent Assault contarally to section 137(1) of the penal code.
Zosowa pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him on, this prompted the state to parade 3witnesses who testified against him.
In mitigation, Zosowa pleaded and asked for leniency sentence citing he is a bread winner of his family.
Passing his sentence, First Grade Magistrate Smart Maluwasa said the case is a serious one which results into rape most of the times.
He then slapped Gezani with a 72 months Imprisonment with hard labor (IHL).
Gezani Zosowa hails from nthache village T/A Nthache in Mwanza.
