Amazing Joy C.A.P Choir On The Move Despite Death of Director, Set To Release DVD

Sustainability of many groupings including church choirs has never been easy after the demise of its sponsors or Directors but this is not the case with Amazing Joy Church of Africa Presbyterian (C.A.P) Choir of Kameza in Blantyre.

The choir lost its Director in the name of Lyson Nyimba earlier this year. The loss was a big brawl to the choir as it came at a time the choir was preparing to launch its second album titled “Satana Khala Chete”.

Before Nyimba’s death, the choir failed to launch the album due to COVID-19 which forced the then President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to impose a lockdown.

Despite all this, the choir has regrouped again and is working on DVD of the Second album.

The DVD is expected to hit the market in July this year.

Amazing Joy Choir Director Yonam Msumba confirmed of the development in an interview with faceofmalawi.

“We are through with producing the CD of our second album and we are currently working on the DVD and the project is expected to hit the market in three months to come.

“The project has delayed due to the death of our Senior Director Mr Lyson Nyimba who was the main sponsor of the choir. But so far we have managed to produce visual of four singles and we are remaining with six singles.

“Let me also take this opportunity to thank former Director’s brother Mr Jonathan Nyimba for releasing funds for the DVD project and the money was paid to the producer as deposit for the project: said Msumba.

Added Msumba : “Am also appearing to well-wishers who have the heart to support us financially because we are having a short fall.”

Msumba hinted that once the project is over the album will be available for free download on Malawi-music.com, one of the popular websites in Malawi which is there to promote local talents in the country.

“Plans are on the cards to venture into online sale and promotion of our album and once the DVD is over you will see our songs on Malawi-music.com and am urging our fans to support us in whatever way,” said Msumba.

Concurring with Msumba’s remarks Leah Banda, one of the choir members who is also the Secretary said the DVD project is going on well.

She then promised Amazing Joy Choir followers that the choir will keep on preaching to them through singing.

“For all this to be achieved we need their support by buying our album once is released in three months to come,” said Banda.

On his part Amazing Joy Choir Choreographer Thomas Ziwawo hailed the unity in the choir, saying this is making his job of training the choir easier.

Some of the tracks in ‘Satana Khala Chete’ album are Zikomo Mbuye, Moyo Wauzimu, Ndidzakhala Naye, Khala Chete, Paphiripo, Iza Olema, Mzimu Wanu, Thandizo Langa and Ndiyesu.

The Amazing Joy Kameza C.A.P Choir has over 10 members, and it ventured into the music industry in 2014 with an aim of preaching to the world through singing.
