Casey Garcia, 30, from San Elizario, was arrested after spending a whole day in middle school posing as her 13-year-old daughter, Julie. The mom documented her entire experience – from the day she spent at the Garcia-Enriquez Middle School, to the day she was detained by local police officers, as per FOX News.

As KWTX reports, Garcia has since been arrested and charged with criminal trespass and tampering with government records. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office found out about the woman’s experiment on June 1, after noticing several social media posts following the events around it.

In a now-viral YouTube video Garcia chronicles her day as a schoolgirl, unnoticed by any of the teachers.

As the mom enters the school, she says to the camera:

“Do I look like a 7th grader? No? Cool, awesome!”

However, it appears that none of her daughter’s teachers realized she was not a 13-year-old schoolgirl but a 30-year-old parent. Garcia even says “Good morning!” to the school’s principal, who also failed to see she was not a student.

Throughout the day, the mom attended all of her daughter’s classes. Naturally, some of Julie’s classmates recognized her but decided to keep her secret, for which she later thanks them.

Apart from attending her daughter’s classes, Garcia also visits the school cafeteria during lunch. Moreover, she later shows a math assignment, as someone can be heard addressing her by Julie’s name.

In a follow-up vlog, the mom explains:

“We need better security at our schools. This is what I tried to prove. I didn’t do this to get views. I didn’t do this to get likes. I didn’t do this so people could be mad at me and I can never walk around El Paso again.”

Garcia adds:

“The teachers were so preoccupied about the students who were online that they weren’t paying attention to the students who were there physically. I think the deal-breaker for me was actually walking in and posing as a seventh-grader. I mean, I’m no spring chicken, but it wasn’t hard.”

Finally, after all the seven periods the mom attended, a teacher asked her to stay after class and confronted her.

Talking about her experience as a 7th grader, Garcia says:

“I was ‘hey, put your phone away.’ I was not a name, I was not a person, I was ‘hey put your phone away.’ It was for a social experiment. I wanted to see if I could make it the entire day without anybody noticing. I’d say up until seventh period is a very long day for a 30-year-old.”

She also mentions the terrifying issue with school shootings in the U.S.:

“There have been one too many mass shootings in schools. That is disgusting to think of that it all could have been prevented just by putting metal detectors and more security… Are you more concerned that I, a parent, was sitting next to your child, or do we really want to wait for the next person taking their Second Amendment right to the extreme?”

Following the “social experiment,” Garcia was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on both charges and for an unrelated traffic warrant. She continued her video series by documenting her arrest, with cops claiming they were detaining her only for the traffic warrant.

San Elizario Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Mesa-Chavez commented:

“While there was a breach in security by an individual associated as a parent with the school, We want to assure you that our security measures are being reviewed and evaluated.”
