QECH runs Short of AstraZeneca Jab

The Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) Covid Vaccination point in Blantyre has run out of the AstraZeneca Covid Vaccine.

Blantyre District Health Office’s Director of Health and Social Services, Gift Kawalazira, has confirmed the development.

According to Kalawazira, Blantyre ran out of the dose on Monday, June 14 but the DHO was supplied with only 2, 000 doses of the vaccine which was taken from other districts.

Meanwhile, speaking following the development, spokesperson in the Ministry of Health, Joshua Malango, says the Ministry has sourced more vaccines from Lilongwe and they are currently on their way to Blantyre.

Malango could not disclose the number of the doses at the moment.

In the similar development, people who have been queuing up in some centres such as Kawale and Area 18 in Lilongwe have been failing to access their second dose of the vaccine.
