A 41 year old man is in police custody for allegedly murdering a 58 yar old woman in Mzimba.
Mzimba Police Deputy Spokesperson John Nyirongo, confirmed of the arrest and identify the man as Saukani Mwale.
According to reports, the deceased, Jessie Sibande was killed by the suspect when she was trying to rescue her friend who was being beaten by Mwale in her garden.
Mwale is said to have heavily assaulted the deceased on the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at Lunjika seventh day hospital on the same day.
The incident took place at Lameck Mwale Village in the area of Inkosi Kampingo Sibande.
Meanwhile, Mwale is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges that are leveled against him.
