“Malawi police is continuing denouncing the growing tendency by some misguided individuals who are spreading fake news about security lapse in the country mainly through social media that once found, the perpetrators will be arrested and prosecuted,” reads part of the statement.

The statement also reveals that the law enforcers have arrested about 450 suspected to have been committing different crimes in the past seven days in Lilongwe and Blantyre.

“These suspects are the ones who have committed crimes like theft, house breaking, unlawful wounding and found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen,” says Kadadzera.

The statement adds that police officers are continuing with intelligence gathering and patrols in all crime_ prone areas to get rid of any criminal activity.
