COVID-19 hits Parliament

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that one of the lawmaker and member of Defence Committee of Parliament has contracted COVID-19.

First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Madalitso Kazombo confirmed of the development this afternoon at Parliament.

Kazombo said the whole Defence Committee of Parliament is in isolation, after one Covid-19 case was recorded.

He was emphasing on the need for the legislators to seriously observe preventive measures after he had noted that one of them was not wearing a mask in the House.

The country has registered a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases and in the past 24 hours the country has registered 188 new cases.

So far over 1000 people have succumbed to COVID-19.
