The Mzimba Senior Resident Magistrate court has denied bail to a police officer who is answering charges of negligence and permitting suspects to escape from lawful custody at Kafukule police post in Mzimba last week.
The police officer identified as Sub Inspector Thokozani Wilson Livala aged 38 was arrested last Friday.
Livala was arrested following the escape of 2 murder suspects, 2 defilement suspects and 5 burglary and theft suspects when he was allegedly drunk while on duty.
Livala is being represented by lawyers from legal aid bureau.
Senior resident magistrate Mathews Msiska has since adjourned the case to 19 July this year.
