20 Inmates test positive for COVID-19 at Ntcheu Prison

Information reaching this publication indicates that a total 20 inmates at Ntcheu Prison have tested positive.

This is after 32 inmates were tested by district health officials on Thursday.

Ntcheu Prison spokesperson Jordan Mang’anda confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Mang’anda the exercise will continue today (Friday) to cater for all 189 inmates present at the facility.

“Meanwhile one spacious cell has been earmarked to house those with positive results and are to be monitored for a fortnight,” he said.

In the past 24 hours, the country has recorded over 700 new COVID-19 cases with 25 deaths.
