Malawi Police In Operation ‘Vala Mask’

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has stepped up in ensuring that Malawians are following the Coronavirus rules and regulations implemented by the Presidential Taskforce on Coronavirus by introducing Operation Vala Mask.

According to a statement seen by Faceofmalawi, the officers from Malawi Police will start from today, July 19 2021 to start seriously enforcing the rules as stipulated in the Public Health Act (Corona Virus and Covid-19 Prevention, Containment and Management)

“The operation, code-named ‘Operation Vala Mask,’ is aimed at ensuring adherence and compliance to all the rules and the regulations that are in place to curb further spread of Covid-19 in our communities,” read part of the statement.

The statement continued; “Notable rules and regulations include wearing of face masks in public places, closing of bars and bottle stores by 10pm, seating capacity of 50 percent in public transport and a curfew starting from 10pm to 6am.”

The Malawi Police is therefore warning those defying Covid-19 Rules and Regulations of arrest and subsequent prosecution.
