KALINDO SNUB CALLS TO APOLOGIZE FOR TONSE GOVT CRITICISM

United Transformation Movement (UTM) director of youth Bon Kalindo has refused calls from some party followers to apologize over remarks targeting the Tonse Alliance government during one of his plays.

Kalindo, popularly known as Winiko in the art circles, had taken a swipe at the nine-member coalition for failing to fulfill campaign promises.

According to Kalindo, people should differentiate between his art career and political life.

Kalindo said, “There is nothing wrong with a character highlighting challenges facing society.”

He said he will not bow down to pressure even if it costs his position in UTM.

Meanwhile, one of the country’s political commentators, Ernest Thindwa has backed Kalindo saying the politician is at liberty to express views on issues of public interest.

Thindwa said although people are entitled to disagree with Kalindo’s sentiments, no one has the right to demand an apology from the politician cum-dramatist.
