Yecenia Morales, 25, lost her life in a tragic bungee jumping incident. The young lawyer fell more than 150ft(46m) to her death, believing she had the bungee safety cord attached to her body.

As TooFab reports, the tragedy took place on Sunday, in Amagá, Colombia.

Moments before jumping to her death, Morales saw the bungee jumping staff signaling her boyfriend he was ready to take a leap. Unfortunately, she thought the signal was for her, so she jumped before having all the safety cords fastened.

Sky Bungee Jumping, the company Yecenia and her boyfriend trusted for their first bungee jumping attempt, had already overseen 89 other people that day. When it was the couple’s turn, the staff first fastened Morales’ boyfriend’s cords and signaled he was ready to jump. That’s when the young woman leaped off the bridge without any bungee cord, believing the signal was for her.

Horrifyingly, Yacenia’s boyfriend was the first person to find her lifeless body.

The young lawyer’s partner desperately tried to perform life-saving CPR, but, sadly, his efforts were to no avail. Not long after, firefighters rushed to help, but there was nothing they could do.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene. Reportedly, doctors revealed that she suffered a heart attack before hitting the ground.

Following her grim death, her boyfriend was treated for shock, as well as injuries he sustained making his rapid descent to reach her.

As per Daily Mail, Mayor of Fredonia Gustavo Guzmán told El Tiempo:

“She got confused. The signal was for the boyfriend to jump because he was already attached to the security equipment. They had only put the harness on her, so she got confused and rushed.”

After claims that the companies working at the site were not authorized to operate, local authorities launched an investigation on the case.
