Sweeney Chinkango’s funeral ceremony underway

The funeral ceremony of artist Sweeney Chinkango is underway at Mthunzi in Blantyre, before burial at Makwasa in Thyolo.

Those in attendance include Minister of Information, Gospel Kazako and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife Michael Usi.

Also in attendance are MBC Director, General George Kasakula, staff and artists.

Kazako described musician and broadcaster Sweeney Chinkango as a humble and talented person and that his death is a blow to the nation, media and creative industry.

MBC Director General, George Kasakula, has said Sweeney was a descent human being who inspired a lot of people and that he was one of the pillars of the state broadcaster, having joined in 1997.

Chinkango succumbed to COVID-19.
