A Senior Resident Magistrate Court at Mkukula in Lumbadzi has sent to jail three men  for two years and six months each for being found in possession of Indian Hemp.

State prosecutor, Aufi Alli, told the court that the three were found with five bags of chamba weighing over 95 kilograms in a Nissan, registration BL 3432. They all pleaded guilty to the charges.

Senior Resident magistrate Cecilia Onsewa hopes the sentences will deter other would-be offenders.

The three are Dickson Chapondera from Ntcheu and Sipeyala Nkhata and Jossam Phiri from Kasungu district.
