Court blocks sale of Kasungu Municipal rest house premises

The Kasungu Municipality has been hit with yet another injunction in which a group called Kasungu People’s Trust is challenging the council’s purpoted plan to sell-off Kasungu Municipal rest house premises.

Chair of the task force peddling the legal action, Benard Ndau, says Judge Kenyata Nyirenda has granted the injunction judicial review of the decision.

Mayor for Kasungu Municipality, Socrates Jere, says his council is expected to meet soon to discuss how to respond to the legal actions.

Recently, a youth group, Kasungu Community Eye also obtained an injunction against the Council’s decision to dispose the parking space of Kasungu community Hall to an Asian investor who is constructing a shopping mall.

The matter is also pending judicial review.
