Chilima Bemoans Dependency Syndrome Among Citizens

Malawi’s vice president Saulos Chilima has expressed concerned with the countries failure to move forward despite having the resources enabling the country to move forward.

The vice president was speaking today in Blantyre at the Wealth Creation Mindset Change Conference organized by Sycamore Consult Limited where he is the guest of honor.

According to Chilima, the country’s failure to move forward is because of dependency syndrome which he described as an inheritance.

He therefore challenged Malawians to stop depending on their government to develop their status quo but rather they should believe in themselves.

Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima has challenged Malawians to stop depending on their government to develop their status quo but rather believe in themselves.

According to Chilima it is disheartening that Malawi has failed to develop since she attained her independence because of the mentality that all development agendas are controlled by government.

While preaching about mindset change among Malawians, Chilima called on the private sector to help the government in fulfilling the 2063 vision which is aiming at creating wealth through Agriculture, Industry and Urbanization,

“Until we realize that an areophane is just a mode of transport and not a symbol of status, we will not change our mindset,” joked Chilima.

Since the Tonse Alliance came to power, Malawians have been taking them to task for failing to fulfil their campaign promises.

According to most Malawians it is the duty of the government to develop the country hence Chilima’s remarks asking Malawians to desist from such thinking.
