Malawian TikToker Lopie6 Opens Up About Alleged Childhood Abuse by Stepmother

Malawian TikToker and makeup artist Jennifer Mtenje, popularly known as Lopie6, has become a topic of discussion on social media after sharing a deeply emotional account of her alleged childhood experiences while living with her stepmother in her father’s home.

The TikToker, who is currently based in Cape Town, South Africa, shared a series of videos detailing what she described as painful experiences of alleged mistreatment and abuse during her childhood.

In one of the videos, Lopie claimed that her stepmother once forced her to use her bare hands to break up human waste in a toilet to make it easier to flush.

The emotional videos have touched many Netizens, with some viewers saying they were moved to tears by her story.

The matter gained further attention after Lopie allegedly began receiving threatening messages from her stepmother’s daughter following the release of the videos.

Commenting on the issue, Congressman and lawyer Sylvester Ayuba James said parents, particularly fathers, should pay close attention to the welfare of children being raised by stepmothers or other guardians.

“It is not enough for you just to provide food and buy clothes for them. You need to frequently make time for you and your kids only, without their stepmother, and make them feel comfortable around you so they can tell you even the smallest of their experiences in the home,” he said.

James said parents should deliberately create opportunities for honest conversations with their children, warning that children may be experiencing difficulties at home without their parents knowing.

He described Lopie6’s story as shocking but said similar experiences were not uncommon among children raised by stepmothers or other relatives.

The lawyer urged parents to look beyond the apparent wellbeing of their children, saying a child may appear happy on the outside while silently suffering emotional or physical abuse.

Lopie’s story has sparked wider conversations online about child protection, the responsibilities of parents and the need for children to have safe spaces where they can speak openly about their experiences at home.
