Death has been announced of human rights activist Rafaq Hajat.
According to reports, Hajat died this morning after heart complications.
According to a family friend, Nandin Patel, Rafiq Hajat succumbed to a heart attack as they were planning to fly him to South Africa to receive further medical treatment.
Patel said Hajat had three heart attacks while he was admitted to the hospital.
She said details of funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized and will be communicated later.
Hajat has been promoting various civil rights in Malawi for alot of years.
He has died at the age of 65.
