A British man has made a bizarre discovery inside the walls of the new home he just purchased
Jonathan Lewis, 32, got the keys to his new home in Walton, Liverpool, southeast England, on Friday, September 17, and decided to have a look around.
He noticed a void underneath the stairs that had been boarded up and decided to examine it.
The primary school teacher took to the wall with a hammer and soon discovered a rag doll, dressed in a pinstripe dress and bonnet, clutching a sinister note inside the hole in the wall.
The note described how the doll had âstabbedâ the original owners of the property in 1961.
The note read:
âDear reader/ new home owner, thank you for freeing me!
âMy name is Emily. My original owners lived in this house in 1961. I didnât like them so they had to go.
âAll they did was sing and be merry. It was sickening. Stabbing was my choice of death for them so I hope you have knives.
âHope you sleep well.â
But Mr Lewis was told by the estate agent the kitchen was only done âfour or five years agoâ and said the note must have been placed by the previous owners around that time frame.
Mr Lewis told the Liverpool Echo:
âIâve just bought the house and I got the keys on Friday.
âI kind of knew there was this void underneath the stairs that had been plaster boarded up.
âThere was a wire coming out where the previous owners had the fridge but I didnât know where the wire was plugged in so I knocked through a bit of the plasterboard to see what was there.
âI knocked through a hole about the size of a fist, shone a light in and there was a doll just sitting there.â
Mr Lewis has now been urged by his friends to put his new property back on the market but the teacher said he found the discovery âhilariousâ.
He said: âSome of my friends have told me to put my house back on the market and move out but I think itâs just a laugh.’â
The teacher added: âIâll be honest, I found the whole thing hilarious. Iâd probably do the exact same thing.
âThe letter says 1961 but the estate agent said when she was showing me around that the kitchen was only done four or five years ago.
âI think it must have been put there then because the paper doesnât look very old and looks relatively recent.â
