Woman torches step-son’s hands for tampering with water tap

A four-year-boy has been admitted to Mchinji District Hospital after his step mother allegedly burnt both his hands because the boy was tampering with a water tap.

The incident happened last weekend at Chibwana village, in the area of Traditional Authority Mlonyeni in Mchinji district.

The victim’s biological mother, Joyce Phiri, told Zodiak today from the boy’s hospital bed that her former husband married another wife where they agreed to raise the boy.

It is believed that the boy and friends were playing with the tap when the suspect, Tereza Mbewe, came, grabbed the victim and allegedly deeped his hands in hot water.

Station Officer for Mchinji police, Charles James Mpezeni, says investigations are still underway.
