Malawians mourn Russell Chimbayo

Death of Russell Chimbayo, a Marketer and founder of Tiwale Designs has shocked many Malawians across the country as it came barely two days after his wedding.

Chimbayo tied a knot with his longtime sweetheart Jacqueline on Saturday.

When the sad news broke out this morning many Malawians especially those from different media houses took to the social media to express their sadness.

Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) broadcaster Kingsley Mtila could not hide his sadness.

“Just Last Saturday October 2nd, 2021, I Hosted Your Wedding @ Mtendere Gardens Blantyre,, And Last Evening October 4th, 2021….Your Sister Called Telling Me Your No More…..This Is Heartbreaking Russell Chimbayo….May Your Soul Rest In Peace,” wrote Mtila.

Concurring with Mtila’s remarks former Faceofmalawi Chief Editor Mankhokwe Namusanya said: “Oftentimes death comes to remind us that life is a messy affair. Violent and cruel in its very practice.

“Last Saturday, I shared a few dance steps with Russell Chimbayo when he was scampering into the safety of marriage. The steps were uncertain but not anything you could put beyond mere fatigue.

“Then, last night, came the phone calls: he is gone.

“That brief. That haughty. Just like that. Man, a groom on Saturday and a mere body on Monday? Help this make sense. For now, it is not.

“It’s a messy affair.”

On his part Nelson Nkhata, a broadcaster at Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) wrote: “My good friend. He believed in my capabilities, introduced me to the world of voice overs and encouraged me every step of the way. MRA adverts were my first to place my voice on. Then came old mutual…

“The list is long. Your continued guidance made me confident in my dealings. You introduced me to a very good and humble soul Peter Mazunda… who also never looked down on my potential.”

Meanwhile the cause of his death is not yet known.
