Boy drowns in a dam in Phalombe

A boy aged 12 has drowned in a dam at Mwayiwathu Irrigation Scheme in Phalombe.

Phalombe Police spokesperson, Jimmy Kapanja, has confirmed of the development and identified the deceased as Mphatso Bires.

According to Kapanja, the deceased, went to the dam to swim alongside friends yesterday afternoon. But he never returned alive.

Postmortem conducted at Migowi Health Centre revealed that death was due to suffocation secondary to drowning.

Mphatso hailed from Matemba Village in the area of T/A Nyezelera in Phalombe district.
