Ntcheu Senior Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced a 45 year old man to 20 years imprisonment with hard labor for defiling a 13 year old child.
The convict has been identified as Elenesho Malunga.
State prosecutor, Annie Kamwendo, told court that the convict defiled the victim on June 25, 2021.
Malunga enticed the innocent girl with K1,000 when he committed the offence.
In plea, Malunga denied a charge of defilement forcing state to parade two witnesses and secured the conviction.
Passing sentence, Senior Resident Magistrate, Joshua Nkhono said the 20-year-jail-term is a deterrent to other would-be offenders.
Malunga hails from Chapananga a village in the area of T/A Chapananga in Chikwawa.
