Kachaje’s erroneous appointment report leaks

The Office of the Ombusdman has recommended for the firing of Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) Chief Executive Officer Henry Kachaje, describing his appointment as erroneous.

The recommendation is contained in the leaked report seen by this publication which has gone viral on social media.

The leaked report comes in barely hours after MERA obtained an injunction restraining Ombusdman Grace Malera from releasing a report on the matter.

Some local rights groups demanded Kachaje’s investigation over reports that he didn’t have a Master’s Degree required for the post.
