A 52-year-old man in Mchinji, Jamitoni Zindikirani, was yesterday allegedly hacked to death by his cousin over land wrangles.
Station Officer for Mchinji police, Charles James Mpezeni confirmed of the incident.
According to Mpezeni, the suspect, Ganizani Dimba, and other family members encroached upon the land which was left by the deceased’s father in 1995, a development that sparked controversy.
Mpezeni says yesterday, the Zindikirani went to the farm to fetch firewood where he met the suspect armed with a panga knife and a hoe handle.
Zindikirani was allegedly assaulted.
The development comes barely a day after an angry mob from Kangwere village, T/A Nyoka in the district also murdered Steven Banda, 34, on suspicion that he stole two goats.
