Bishop George Desmond Tambala has finally left Zomba Diocese ahead of his installation as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.

Tambala will be installed as Archbishop on the 27th November 2021 at Civil Stadium in the capital Lilongwe.

“The Catholic Church in the Diocese of Zomba has bid farewell to his Lordship George Desmond Tambala OCD. The Right Reverend has been appointed as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe. He is going to be Installed as Archbishop on the 27th November 2021 at Civil Stadium.

“The Diocese wishes him well and urges him to continue serving the Lord with the same zeal and spirit he has shown in Zomba,” reads in part the statement from Zomba Diocese.

Pope Francis appointed Tambala as Archbishop of Archdiocese of Lilongwe a month ago.

He replaces Archbishop Ziyaye who died in December last year.
