Lightning Kills Two, Injures Three In Thyolo

At least two people have died and three others have been injured after being hit by lightning in Thyolo district yesterday afternoon.

A husband to one of the deceased, a Mr. Soda, tells us the lightning struck four people as they took lunch at Mchima Tea Estate in the district.

Police and hospital officials are yet to comment, but ward councilor for Mchima, Harrison Ovila, has confirmed the incident.

The deceased have been identified as, Nyson Banda, 43, from Nkhwangwa village, Traditional Authority Mbawera in Thyolo district and Estere Soda, 32, from Bwanali village in Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje district.
