Man slapped with 7 years jail sentence for beating, exposing nudity of his wife

Mangochi Magistrate on Thursday convicted and sentenced a 28 year-old man to seven years imprisonment with hard labour.

He was answering charges of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to Section 254 and Assaulting of Modest of a Woman contrary to Section 237 sub section 3 of the Penal Code.

State Prosecutor, Sub Inspector Maggie Chibulire told the court the 28 year old Maxon Kamwendo on December 2 this year assaulted his lover whom he heard was having a love affair with other men while he was away for business.

She further told the court that Kamwendo undressed the women, while beating her outside the house while other people were watching.

The prosecutor added that the matter was reported to police and medical report was issued and the results from Mangochi District Hospital confirmed that the woman was beaten.

Maxon Kamwendo was doing his business in Mangochi but hails from Manjiya Village in Mulanje District.
