A 25-year old woman who goes by the name Tamandani Mpokosa, is being remanded at Chichiri prison after appearing in court on Tuesday on suspicion that she stole a three weeks old baby.
According to Chileka Police Public Relations Officer sergeant Jonathan Philipo, she committed the offence on 30th November at Lunzu Trading Center where she had accompanied the mother of the baby.
The law enforcers managed to track down the suspect earlier this week in Mchinji district where she had fled to.
The suspect who hails from Methiwa Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Changata in Thyolo district
She is expected to re- appear in court on 3rd, January, 2022.
