A hospital attendant for Masenjere Health Centre in Chikwawa has been arrested for allegedly being found in possession of medical drugs and medical equipment without permission.
The suspect has been identified as Davie Snago, 43 of Tomali Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Ndakwera in Chikwawa District.
According to Chikwawa Police Station spokesperson, Dickson Matemba, on December 12, 2021, Makhwira Police Unit officers received a tip-off that Snago was offering for sale medical drugs at his house in Nyangu Village under Traditional Authority (T/A) Makhwira.
Matemba said following the tip-off Police recovered assorted medical drugs such as 2600 Praziquantel, 200 Albendazole tablets, 20 Gentamicin bottles, 249 syringes, 600 gloves, 584 LA tablets, 50 bandages, 81 Sutures and 3 bottles of Benzyl Benzoate among other drugs.
Snago will appear in court soon to answer three counts that have been leveled against him namely: Operating a clinic without license; being found in possession of medical drugs without permit; and found in possession of medical equipment without permit.
