Activists Threaten To Hold Vigils At Martha Chizuma’s Residence If Chakwera Fails To Fire Attorney General

A group of concerned citizens and human rights activists have threatened to hold vigils at the house of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma if President Lazarus Chakwera does not fire Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda and Minister of Lands Kezzie Msukwa within 10 days.

The activists which include the Malawi Sali Bwino demonstrations Organizer Bon Kalindo and Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa said this at a press briefing yesterday in the capital, Lilongwe.

According to the grouping, the proposed amnesty deal by the Attorney General is meant to shield politicians in the Tonse Alliance administration hence a call for his firing.

Whilst on Msukwa, is the fact that he is on the wanted list by the ACB over the Zuneith Sattar scandal.

They are further demanding authorities to reverse a 60-day amnesty that the AG has recently announced.

The 60-day amnesty according to the human rights activists, is based on lies and will eventually shield government officials who are implicated in corruption.

Mvula and Kalindo insist that the amnesty has come in bad faith.

The activists are demanding the ACB to interrogate all culprits involved in corruption and apply no selective justice.
