Chakwera Says Bravo To Flames Over Exceptional Performance Against Senegal

Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera has congratulated the country’s National Team, The Flames over their outstanding performance against the all-star-studded Senegal yesterday.

The Flames – Senegal game ended in a goalless draw at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON taking place in Cameroon.

According to Government’s official Facebook page, Chakwera congratulated The Flames for performing wonderfully against the Lions of Teranga.

“His Excellency, the State President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, congratulates the Malawi National Football Team, the Flames for performing wonderfully in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a draw with Senegal national team in Cameroon,” read the Facebook post.

The statement added; “The Flames have performed wonderfully and put themselves in a good position to qualify for Round of 16 pending the outcome of other games, the Flames have made us proud.”

Prior to the game, president Chakwera had pledged to give every Flames player who will feature in the Malawi – Senegal a sum of K1 million kwacha each if they win and K500, 000 to the substitutes.
