19-year-old girl who was kidnapped by thugs now unable to walk or talk after she fell from their van speeding at 60mph

A young woman was left unable to walk or feed herself after thugs kidnapped her and she then fell out of a moving van.

Angel Lynn, 19, was kidnapped by boyfriend Chay Bowskill and friend Rocco Sansome in September 2020.

Although it was unclear how she escaped from the vehicle, she fell out when the van was driving at around 60mph on the A6.

She suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries and is still unable to walk or talk, requires round-the-clock care, and is unlikely to ever make a full recovery.

Bowskill was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour towards Angel during their year-long relationship – details of his behaviour towards her were not made public.

He was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice after he attempted to make his own mother change a police statement she made against him, Leicestershire Live reports.

Judge Timothy Spencer QC told Bowskill at Leicester Crown Court: “She was a beautiful young woman who should have been enjoying the carefree years of her late-teens into early adulthood.

“You treated her in a vile way. She was belittled by you to a point where she must have felt worthless on a regular basis.

“You controlled her freedom of movement by a variety of means.

“She wasn’t allowed any sort of life apart from you. I’m satisfied you meted out violence to her, causing bruising, on at least two occasions.

“Were it not for the kidnapping, Angel Lynn . . . wouldn’t have been in a position where she exited the van with devastating consequences.”

As a result of the injuries suffered from the fall out of the van, Angel now needs 24-hour care.

CCTV footage of the moments leading up to the injuries shows that she was originally driving the vehicle, but she got out and walked along the road having got into an argument with Bowskill.

The video then shows her being grabbed and carried back to the van before she later ended up on the road, with life-changing injuries.

Bowskill admitted telling her that he “hated” her, and claimed that the girl jumped out, causing her own injuries.

He was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison, while Sansome received a 21-month sentence.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Tony Yarwood said, after the verdict: “Angel is a young woman who had plans and aspirations in place and the rest of her life to look forward to.

“Because of the extent of her injuries she now faces constant medical treatment and round-the-clock care.

“Her family remain devastated by what has happened and I praise the strength and bravery they have shown and continue to demonstrate to this day.”

Angel’s dad, Paddy, said: “I know that Angel will never get married now and I will never get to walk my daughter down the aisle.

“Nikki and I will never be grandparents to Angel’s children. We don’t know what the future holds for our daughter but we try to put smiles on our faces each day but inside our hearts are bleeding out.””

A GoFundMe page was set up by her cousin after the incident, which has now reached £3,675. To donate, click here.
