Goodall Gondwe attacks DPP top officials who are against Mutharika’s leadership

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the North Goodall Gondwe has asked all those people who are against former President Peter Mutharika’s leadership to leave.

Gondwe, former Minister of Finance said this on Sunday at Edingeni in Mzimba on the sidelines of the ordination of Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V into the Men’s Guild and Eldership of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia.

“I would like the party to come together, and I think we will. Those who do not agree [with Peter Mutharika] will have to leave the party, that’s how things are.

“Not everybody agrees with the leadership, but if you don’t agree with the party, then you must go somewhere else. That’s what must happen,” Gondwe was quoted as saying.

DPP is embroiled in leadership crisis with others calling for elective conference to replace Mutharika.

But Mutharika has on several times trashed the calls, claiming that the elective conference will be held in 2023.

Meanwhile, Mutharika is in bad blood with the Party’s Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also vying for the party’s Presidency.
