Chakwera off to Ethiopia for AU Summit


President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has left the country to attend the 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) to be held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Chakwera has departed through the Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe.

The theme for the summit is: “Building Resilience and Nutrition of the African Continent, Accelerate the Human Capital, Social and Economic Development.”

The summit will be preceded by the African Union Statutory Meetings.

During the AU Assembly, President Felix Antoine Tsisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Chairperson of the African Union will hand over the Chairmanship of the African Union to President Macky Sall of Senegal.
