Malawi’s Member of Parliament for Dedza South Constituency who is also leader of government back bench Ishmael Onani has proposed change of colour for Parliamentary chairs.
According to Onani, Parliament chairs should have colours of the country’s flag and not of a political party as it is the case now.
At the moment the chairs wear a blue colour which is a primary colour for the former ruling Democartic Progressive Party (DPP).
First Deputy Speaker of the August House then ruled in favour of Onani saying that it was a good suggestion and the office of the speaker shall look into the matter.
“Its a good suggestion and the office of the speaker will take it forward, we need to celebrate our flag” said Kazombo.
Ironically, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) which is the lead party in the governing Tonse Alliance uses colours of the country’s flag except they have a cock on center whereas Malawi flag has a rising sun on it.
