14 people arrested in sweeping exercise in Zomba

Police in Zomba are keeping in custody 14 people aged between 17 and 45 who the law enforcers accuse of committing various criminal offences.

Zomba Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano said eight of the suspects were arrested by Jali Police Post while six were arrested by Domasi Police Post.

They are suspected of breaking into buildings, stealing, obtaining money by false pretence, being found in possession of Indian hemp and unlawful wounding, among other offences.
