As one way of recognizing the role played by Old Mutual Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Edith Jiya in implementation of the Mthunzi Tree nursery campaign “plant a tree, grow a memory”, which was launched in March 2021, Pan African Learning and Growth Network (PALGNET) has awarded her with a Woman of Substance Award.
The gala awards took place during PALGNET’s 7th annual ceremony which was held at Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi and Madam Mary Chilima, spouse to the country’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima presided over the ceremony.
Speaking after receiving the award, Jiya said she was deeply humbled with the award.
“Am truly humbled by this award and honoured to play a key role in delivering Old Mutual’s Responsible Business ethos to communities around Malawi,” she said.
Jiya has been recognized under the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Category of the Award, which celebrates women and girls in about 28 different other categories.
PAGNET recognizes women who work to progress their industries and communities through ethical leadership.
