MISA Malawi Mourns Beatrice Kampango’s Passing

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi has expressed shock with the untimely death of Radio Alinafe Station Manager Beatrice Kampango.

Kampango died at Daeyang Luke Hospital in Lilongwe on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

Kampango joined the Catholic Church-owned Radio Alinafe as a volunteer in 2003. She was one of 15 volunteers that formed the second cohort of volunteers for the station.

For about 20 years, Kampango dedicated her life to the development of Radio Alinafe and the broadcasting industry in Malawi, rising to the positions of full-time presenter and producer, music and production manager in the process. She rose to the position of station manager in 2021.

During her time in the media sector, Kampango worked hard and used her skills and experience to promote and develop up-and-coming journalists.

Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Maula Cathedral in Lilongwe. It will start at 10:30 am. Thereafter the body will be taken to Kampango’s home village, Kasalika, around Mangunda in Thyolo, for burial on Friday, March 18, 2022.
