Ombudsman Office Risks Being Evicted Over Unpaid Rentals

The Office of the Ombudsman risks being evicted due to unpaid rentals amounting to over K121 million dating back to last year.

The office rents St Martin’s House in Lilongwe.

According to a letter from BML Property Management dated March 11, 2022 addressed to government through Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, the bill dates back to January 2021 and also includes arrears for 2020.

BML has asked the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development to pay the bill within seven days or face eviction and seizure of property inside the Ombudsman’s Office.
