Chiefs in Chikwawa asks govt to relocate them upland areas

Some chiefs in Chikwawa who were affected by cyclone Anna and are staying in camps have urged authorities to relocate them to upland areas.

Ground village headman Kaseche and Misili 2 made the call on Thursday in Chikwawa at the camp.

The religious body national repentance Malawi in conjunction with great calling ministries donated some sorted items worth 1.8 million kwacha to the flood victims at the camp.

In an interview Group Village Kaseche said that his subjects in total 505 were displaced by cyclone Anna saying 3 people lost their lives during the incident.

In addition properties, livestock ,clothes were a washed away by the floods. Group village headman Kaseche therefore has urged authorities to consider allocating them a land at a safer place.

On his part national repentance malawi national coordinator reverend Dr Edward Mikwamba said that they thought it wise to visit the people that were displaced by the floods in Chikwawa district.

Reverend Dr Edward Mikwamba reasoned that during this difficult time these people need both spiritual and physical needs. Some of the assorted items includes flour, and clothes worthy 1.8 million kwacha.
