PTC Working On Employees Severance Pay, Provides Hope For Job Security

Peoples Trading Center (PTC) Chief Executive Officer Ferdinand Mchacha has assured their employees that their jobs are safe even though the company was sold to Tafika Holdings Limited.

Mchacha made the remarks following the vigils that the employees have organized outside their Head Office in Blantyre.

According to the representatives of the employees, the management is not being clear on the future of the company when Tafika management takes over as such, they want the management to come forward and clear severance pay and job security issues.

Mchacha said they are consulting their lawyers and labour office if it is within the law to pay their employees severance package while they are still working.

“We have not retrenched anyone else and we are wondering why they are eyeing severance pay while their contracts are still valid,” said Mchacha.

Meanwhile, the frustrated employees are still outside PTC Head Office in Blantyre waiting for the CEO to address them.
