University of Malawi (UNIMA) formerly Chancellors College has appointed Professor Samson Sajidu as the new vice-chancellor.
According to communication in our possession from UNIMA Council, Prof. Sajidu’s appointment as the new vice-chancellor of the UNIMA is with effect from 1 April 2022.
“Please take note that Council has guided that the outgoing Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Al Mtenje, and the incoming Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samson Sajidu should work together in the month of April 2022 for purposes of orderly handovers. Therefore, invite all of you to join me in congratulating Prof. Sajidu for being appointed to the position of vice-chancellor. Let us render our full support as he embarks on his new tour of duty,” reads the communication in part.
Prof. Sajidu becomes the 10th vice-chancellor of the university being preceded by Prof. John Kalenga Saka.
In the history of the university, the first vice-chancellor was Dr. Ian Michael 1965–1973.
