The memorial service of former President Bingu wa Mutharika will be held at Chingazi Catholic Chruch this coming Tuesday in Thyolo District.
Bingu’s family and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
In a statement Organizing Committee Chairperson, who is also DPP’s Administrative Secretary, Francis Mphepo said all is set for the event.
“We will start with mass prayers at Chingazi Catholic Church and after that former president Peter Mutharika will address the gathering for some few minutes before proceeding to Mpumulo wa Bata Mausoleum where wreaths laying ceremony will take place,” said Mphepo.
Bingu died of cardiac arrest attack on 5 April 2012 while serving his second term of office as Malawi’s president.
His death led to the ascension of Joyce Banda to the High Office.
