Thugs Kill Form 4 Student In Dedza

Police in Dedza have launched a search for assailants who attacked a form 4 student at Umbwi Secondary School Cosmas Malekano on the night of April 11, 2022 when he was going for studies.

According Dedza Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Edward Kabango, the late Malekano was attacked by unknown people after waking up at 1 am in order to study at one of the classes and as he was passing by the football ground within the campus.

He was attacked and beaten by 3 unknown people who were putting on masks and also forced him to drink poisonous substance.

“Malekano was found lying unconscious within the campus and rushed to Dedza District Hospital where he died later at 6pm,” Kabango said.

He added confirmed the death of Malekano and said they are waiting for postmortem results.

“We are assuring residents that we will do anything possible to arrest the suspects,” Kabango said.

Reports coming in indicates that Umbwi Secondary School has been closed over security issues.
